Everyone reacts differently. This is not medical advice.

Why edibles feel different

Edibles work more slowly than smoking or vaping. That delay is why people take a second piece too early and end up with far more than they meant to.

How you react depends on your body, your tolerance and how much you take. Start low and go slow. If you have a health question, ask a doctor.

Arizona edible limits

Every edible sold in Arizona holds at most 10 mg of THC per serving and 100 mg per package. Multi-serving packages have to be scored or otherwise divided into standard servings, and the THC has to be spread evenly through the product.

What to look for on the label

  • Total THC per package in milligrams.
  • THC per serving or piece. Divide total by pieces if it is not printed.
  • Serving markings on bars and other multi-serving products.
  • Ingredients and allergens, like any food.

Storage, kids and pets

Keep edibles in their child-resistant package and out of sight and reach of children and pets. Edibles can look like ordinary candy or snacks.

Edibles FAQ

How much THC can an Arizona edible contain?

No more than 10 mg of THC per serving and 100 mg per package. Multi-serving packages must be scored or divided into standard servings.

Do edibles count toward my 1 ounce limit?

Only the marijuana in them counts. Arizona law excludes the weight of other ingredients in food, drinks and other products.

Why do people say start low and go slow?

Edibles take longer to work than smoking or vaping. Taking more too soon is the most common mistake.

What tax applies to edibles in Arizona?

The same as everything else: the 16% marijuana excise tax plus city sales tax.
